Fiesta: The Sun also Rises

Rating: ★★★★★

Is there a better way of celebrating the 8 months of Volta’s? I believe there is, which is why I am writing about my favourite book. Even the title is perfect for today.

I have to admit, I would rate this book with 9 stars if possible. I had never read such an incredible novel, with such a realist romance. But then I had never read anything from Ernest Hemingway until now. I don’t even know how to list all the amazing things he did with this book. So I won’t. Because that’s what makes it incredible; what is left unsaid, what is not told, all the indescribable feelings and demons under Jacob’s skin. I’ll reveal though that I fell in love with him, for what he tried not to think of, or simply felt. Hemingway is the first author causing such an effect on me. And I can sense that all his books will do just the same.

Two on a Tower

Rating: ★★★☆☆

I can’t say I love Hardy’s novels. From every classic author, he is probably my least favourite. But the title and the synopsis did catch my attention. My first thought was: ‘this story is quite different from what was being published at the time’, which was another surprise.

At first I did not know I was enjoying this book. Until the end. Too sad for a love story. Too sad for a love like this. Too real for every real love
